Thermo Response® systems provide rapid, automatic fire detection and suppression directly at the source of a developing fire. The system utilizes a heat-sensitive detection tube that operates independently of external electrical or pneumatic power for fire detection and activation, making it particularly suitable for demanding mobile and industrial applications.

HOW THE THERMO RESPONSE® SYSTEM WORKS

The Thermo Response® system utilizes a flexible, heat-sensitive detection tube strategically installed within the protected equipment compartment.

When the tube is exposed to excessive heat or direct flame and reaches its predetermined activation temperature, the section subjected to the highest heat ruptures. This initiates the suppression system and causes the extinguishing agent to be discharged rapidly onto the fire.

The system therefore provides automatic fire detection and suppression at or close to the source of the fire, without relying on conventional electrical smoke or heat detectors.

DIRECT THERMO RESPONSE® SYSTEM

In the Direct Thermo Response® configuration, the heat-sensitive tube serves as both the fire detection device and suppression-agent discharge path.

When the tube reaches its activation temperature, it ruptures at the point of highest heat, creating a discharge opening. The suppression agent is then released directly through the ruptured section onto the fire.

The direct configuration is particularly suitable for localized hazards within:

INDIRECT THERMO RESPONSE® SYSTEM

In the Indirect Thermo Response® configuration, the heat-sensitive tube functions exclusively as the fire detection and activation mechanism.

When the tube ruptures following exposure to excessive heat, the resulting pressure change activates the system valve. The suppression agent is then discharged through dedicated copper or stainless-steel pipework and strategically positioned discharge nozzles.

The indirect configuration is particularly suitable for larger or more complex equipment compartments where multiple discharge points are required for effective coverage.

SUPPRESSION AGENTS

  1. DRY CHEMICAL POWDER (DCP)

Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) provides rapid flame knockdown and is particularly suitable for heavy-duty equipment where fire hazards may involve diesel, petrol, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, combustible liquids, and other flammable materials.

The system suppresses fire by reducing the oxygen concentration within the protected enclosure to a level that will not sustain combustion.
